First shown as part of Frontiers at Brunswick Street Gallery Melbourne in 2024, The mirror is one of ten 1 by 1.5 metre works on unprimed jute canvas. Each painting in the series is drawn from source images of 35mm photographs taken by the artist during a journey through Portugal in 2001.
"I use the grid as a metaphor for consciousness and a tool for abstraction. For this work, this ratio reflects the format of photo prints at the time the original photos were taken with 35mm film."
